Middlesbrough fixture release: A preview of what’s to come

Fixture release day, a day where many football fans start planning on what days they’ll have to book off work, plan holidays around and fake a sickie to go and watch the football.

For Boro fans this is no different, Middlesbrough found out their fixture list today and it’s fair to say it has been a fairly kind one.

Boro start the season with a trip to Wolves and end it with a trek down to the east country as they face Ipswich Town on the final day. Promotion party?

It’s still early days but on the balance of that fixture list, I think us Boro fans can be quietly confident and expect an immediate bounce back to the Premier League.

The play-off final will be held on 26-28th May 2018 but Boro fans will be hoping they won’t have to make a trip down to the capital this time around.

Below I have done a quick run through of each month and put a prediction of how many points I expect Garry Monk’s team to pick up in each month.

5 Wolves (a) – W
12 Sheff Utd (h) – W

6 Ipswich (a) – L

So in my world I expect Boro to finish the season on 97 points and to certainly “Smash the League” to quote a certain Steve Gibson.

The way the fixtures present themselves, however, does give more the opportunity to run away with the league, it’s early doors but if Boro strengthen well in the transfer market and manage to keep the core squad there’s no reason why they can’t go up as Champions in a convincing style.
